About Dr Audrey Gathy

Dr Audrey Gathy has been a GP in Double Bay for over 25 years and was a founding member of the Cooper Street Clinic at its inception in 2001.

She graduated with Honours from the University of Sydney in 1985. After several years of hospital practice, including twelve months in the Emergency Department of the Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick, she attained her Certificate of Family Planning and Sexual Health through the Family Planning Association in 1991. She then obtained Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP).

Dr Gathy has a strong interest in paediatrics and women’s health, and is affiliated, for the provision of shared antenatal care, with The Royal Hospital for Women (Randwick), King George Women’s and Babies Hospital (Royal Prince Alfred Hospital) and Camperdown, Sutherland, Canterbury and St George Hospital and Royal North Shore Hospitals. She provides family planning advice and is trained to insert and remove Implanon devices, as well as to remove IUCDs. As well as antenatal care, she is interested in providing follow-up care to neonates, childhood immunisations and general paediatric care.

Dr Gathy has a particular interest in skin disorders, removes skin lesions and injects arthritic joints. She believes in providing holistic medical care to families at all stages of life and attends to her aged-care patients in several nursing homes.

She speaks Hungarian, some French and has an understanding of German. Outside of the practice, Dr Gathy play tennis and travels. She cycles and reads in her down-time and spends time with her adult children and their partners.
