About Dr Sonia Verma

Sonia completed her Physician training in the UK (MRCP) before embarking on general practice, attaining a distinction in the RCGP (UK). She is also a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of GPs.

While Sonia has experience with a wide variety of patients, she has a particular interest in Women’s and Children’s Health. She has gone on to gain the DRCOG(UK) and is now an adviser for the Royal Hospital for Women and helps run the Antenatal Shared Care program for the area. Prior to moving to Australia, Sonia was an examiner for medical students in obstetrics and gynaecology at the University College Hospital London. Her interest in fertility and pregnancy is borne out by her years of experience in assisting women to select and/or administer appropriate contraceptive devices and assisting with general family planning. She inserts IUDs and implant contraceptive devices.

Sonia subscribes to ethical, evidence-based medicine and is prepared to undertake appropriate research to assist her patients with any health related query or concern they may have. Her technical skills are complemented by the genuine compassion, warmth and humour which she brings to her practice as a GP.

When not working, Sonia is usually running after her little boy, swimming at Bondi Icebergs or painting.
